June is National Internet Safety Month.

We will be providing information with helpful tips and suggestions for students to follow to make sure you are safe while using online activities.

Be careful not to share your personal information with people online that you do not really know.  Just because someone is playing your favorite game and says they are a kid that does not mean they are.

Do you have a favorite electronic game that you enjoy playing online with other friends?  Some of these games have chat rooms, be careful not to divulge personal information to people you do not know.  Do you really want them knowing that much about you?

Do you know someone that you chat with online but have not meet? Do not arrange to meet friends you meet online without having a parent or guardian with you.

Do not share your username and password with anyone except your parents/guardians.  If you suspect someone knows your username/password change it immediately.

Do you know what you should do if someone says something mean or untrue about you online? You do not need “friends” like that.  Block them from your chat session and unfriend them.
