Shelton High School Swim Classes​

Morning:  Monday – Thursday for 2 weeks: Between 9:00–11:00  $60.00 per session: 8 Classes

 

Morning Session: August 13 – 23, 2017

 (August 13, 14, 15, 16, 20, 21, 22, & 23)

9-9:30:   Junior 1

9-9:40:  Youth 2 and Youth 3

9:40-10:20:  Youth 1

9:45 - 10:15:  Junior 2 and Junior 3

10:20 - 11:  Youth 3 and Youth 2

10:30 - 11:  Junior 1

Please note: Swim diapers must be worn in the pool by all children 3 years old and younger.




Water Wigglers: (2-3 YEARS OLD)
This level is designed for the graduates of the Water Babies class. The Children will work independently from Mom and Dad and we’ll introduce roll over breathing, learn how to do ‘big arms,’ and be comfortable kicking on their back. We’ll also ensure that the child is able to complete an unassisted turnaround swim. Prerequisite: Graduate of Water Babies.

Class Limit: 3

3-5 YEAR OLD CLASSES
Swim Diaper’s must be worn in the pool by ALL children 3 & younger.


Junior Level 1:
This introductory class is designed for the nervous swimmer or very beginner. We will work on submersions and back floats while assisting the child to feel comfortable and safe in the water. The foundation of streamlining will be introduced. The use of positive reinforcement is critical to help the child build trust and confidence.  Prerequisite: None, Class limit: 3

Junior Level 2:
This level is for the child who has developed comfort in the water and is ready to learn the basics of freestyle and backstroke and streamlining. The swimmers will begin to explore their newfound skills of swimming underwater.  Prerequisite: Graduate of Junior level 1. Class limit: 3
                                                                                                                                                   


Junior Level 3:
This class is for children who are able to swim freestyle and backstroke over a short distance and are now ready to learn freestyle side breathing. This class is where we will begin to see the students putting it all together and really making a big splash of progress in the pool.  Prerequisite: Graduate of Junior Level 2. Class limit: 3


6-12 YEAR OLD CLASSES


Youth Level 1:
This is a beginner swim class designed for the nervous swimmer or very beginner. We will work on submersions and back floats while assisting the child to feel comfortable and safe in the water. The foundation of streamlining will be introduced. We also work on building confidence in and around the water and encourage the swimmers to have some fun in the pool.  Prerequisite: None Class limit: 4

 

Youth Level 2:
This level is for the swimmer who has developed comfort in the water and is ready to learn the basics of freestyle and backstroke and streamlining. The students discover in this class that the water is a fun place to be and learn to develop their own sense of confidence.  Prerequisite: Graduate of Youth Level 1. Class limit: 4

 

Youth Level 3:
For children who are able to swim freestyle and backstrokes over a short distance and are now ready to learn freestyle side breathing. In this class we see the swimmers putting all the things learned above together and their confidence grows.  Prerequisite: Graduate of Youth Level 2.  
Class limit: 5


Youth Level 4:
Having achieved the skills of swimming backstroke and freestyle with side breathing to the preferred side, students are now ready to learn freestyle side breathing to the non-preferred side. Butterfly and breaststroke progressions will be introduced.  Prerequisite: Graduate of Youth Level 3. Class limit: 8

Youth Level 5:
This is where we focus on bilateral side breathing. The students are also ready to learn the flip turns by pushing off the wall in a back streamline and executing sit-down dives with the correct commands. Graduation of this level will prepare students to continue to Quick Water Swim Club.  We will also work on teaching butterfly and breaststroke progression with breathing.  Prerequisite: Graduate of Youth Level 4. Class Limit: 8

Pre-Diving Team:
This is where we prepare students for competitive springboard diving . Learn the basic approach for front and back dives. Divers will learn the basic 5 dives and positions. Prerequisite: Graduate of Level 5. Class Limit: 5

Parents please note:
  • Class are designed to make children into competent swimmers. Class placement determined by swimming ability. The costs for these lessons are $60.00 for 8 lessons.
  • Lessons for children ages 3 and up that are willing to participate in a class t without a parent in the water with them. Please see descriptions for more information.
  • Refunds will only be permitted if the pool is closed. Once paid no refunds or credits!
  • Teachers will move kids into different levels as necessary.
  • Talk to the Lesson supervisor immediately if there is a problem.
  • Cash or Check ONLY
  • NO debit or credit cards accepted.
