LanSchool History:
In 2018 we installed LanSchool for desktop computers. At that time there was no easy way to make it available for Chromebooks in our district. We are now able to include Chromebooks on LanSchool. You and your students will soon see a message while they are using their Chromebooks. Your students will need to click on “Share” in order to use a Chromebook. This is a necessary preliminary step as we expand the use of LanSchool for Chromebooks.
Details:
LanSchool for desktop computers was based on the room location of the computers. LanSchool does not look at Chromebooks as being located in a particular classroom so the setup is entirely different and LanSchool did not have a tool to make it easy to implement. LanSchool now has a tool that allows us to expand it out to Chromebooks based on classroom rosters that are automatically sync’d and updated daily with Skyward schedules. We are in the process of expanding our LanSchool program to include Chromebooks. This will now allow teachers to view students' Chromebooks and PCs during class. We are testing and slowly rolling out the settings to allow Chromebook management. We currently have three teachers at OMS using the program.
