What is HPP?
HPP is a partnership between families and the Shelton School District that supports students learning at home while maintaining enrollment with the district.
Students enrolled in HPP will:
- Receive curriculum and instructional resources provided by the Shelton School District.
- Work with a certificated teacher who provides guidance, support, and progress monitoring.
- Have an individualized Washington State Learning Plan (WSLP) developed in partnership with families.
- Continue receiving instruction primarily at home from their parent/guardian.
- Participate in a personalized educational program designed to meet state learning requirements while honoring
- family choice and flexibility.
Who Can Participate?
HPP is designed for students in kindergarten through 5th Grade for the 2026 – 2027 school year whose families wish to provide instruction at home while partnering with Shelton School District.
Curriculum Support
Shelton School District will provide curriculum choices and teacher guidance for home-based instruction in the 11 areas required for a WSLP:
- Reading
- Writing
- Spelling
- Language Arts
- Mathematics
- Science
- Social Studies
- History
- Health
- Occupational Education
- Appreciation of Art and Music
