SCHEDULE

Students work through a robust and well-articulated online curriculum taught by Shelton School District staff. Grading, feedback, active instruction, and daily attendance are part of this structure. This is 100% online with no in-person classes.

Students will attend school face-to-face on Monday and Tuesday OR Thursday and Friday. Wednesdays are online learning days for all with staff having office hours, planning, and online class meetings.

SUPPORT FOR ALL STUDENTS AND FAMILIES

The school district will work with families and students on a case-by-case basis to address any challenges or special circumstances. We will continue to offer support through school district programs including, but not limited to, English Learners, Native American Education Programs, McKinney-Vento, our Family Support Services, and all other State and Federal Programs.

FACE-TO-FACE INSTRUCTION

No face-to-face instruction. Support may be provided face-to-face on a case-by-case basis.

Upon approval to reopen schools, students would receive at least two full days of in-person instruction each week.

100% online through K12, a company dedicated to online learning.

Students will have at least three days of online learning each week. In case of a school or district closure, students would temporarily move to 100% online learning and in-person instruction would resume upon clearance from health authorities.

ROLE OF SSD STAFF

Our staff will teach using the robust and interactive curriculum supplied by K12.

Staff from the student’s school will provide in-person instruction and online learning. Staff will be accessible to support students and parents on a consistent schedule.

ROLE OF PARENT/GUARDIAN

Parents and guardians are the education partners for their child(ren). After receiving instruction online, the student will need to complete activities at home that may require support from their education partner. Parents and guardians will have access to online guidance and materials including evening hours for support.

Parent and guardian support is necessary for younger students during online learning sessions.

COURSES

Students in kindergarten through grade 8 will be offered core classes consisting of math, English Language Arts, social studies, and science. Students in grades 9 through 12 will have access to a variety of classes that will satisfy graduation requirements.

On face-to-face days, students will be screened prior to entering school facilities.
