Instructional Materials CommitteeThe Shelton School District Instructional Materials Committee (IMC) supports the district’s commitment to continuous improvement of the educational program and recognizes the significant impact instructional materials have on student learning and experiences. The role of the Instructional Materials Committee (IMC) is to oversee the instructional materials adoption process, ensure district procedures and policy requirements are followed, review recommendations from adoption committees, and make formal recommendations regarding core instructional materials to the Shelton School District Board of Directors in accordance with District Policy 2020.

The district values broad representation and seeks participation from certificated staff and parents/guardians of currently enrolled students whose perspectives reflect the demographics, experiences, and learning needs of the Shelton School District community.

IMC members are expected to collaborate respectfully, participate actively in meetings, and uphold group-developed norms in alignment with the goals and belief statements under the Shelton School District Strategic Plan. IMC members must be able to maintain confidentiality when needed and communicate clearly with other district stakeholders when appropriate, as directed by the chairperson of the IMC.
