Mason Health unveils new school-based clinicIn partnership with the Shelton School District, Mason Health will open a new School Based Clinic at the Shelton Family YMCA in August.

The clinic will offer sports physical exams, well-child appointments, as well other medical appointments twice a week. The hours of operation will be Tuesday and Friday mornings from 8:30 – 11:30. The Clinic will be staffed by a Family Nurse Practitioner and Medical Assistant.

The service will be available only to Shelton School District middle school, junior high and high school students, and appointments must be scheduled with the School Based Clinic.

“Partnering with the Shelton School District enhances Mason Health’s mission to be a good community partner and develop strong lasting relationships,” said Mason Health Chief Operating Officer Mark Batty. “This gives Mason Health the opportunity to expand our footprint of care, while making access to primary care easier and more efficient for a distinct population.”

The school district began discussions with Mason Health about the clinic in 2020 but were paused due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The discussions resumed in late 2021.

“This fulfills a need for the School District to make medical care more available for their student population, while providing the school district a referral source to deliver this care,” Batty added. “This represents our commitment to the community. It is a multi-faceted win for Mason Health by making our services readily available at a satellite location and increasing our visibility.”

The School Based Clinic is located at the Shelton Family YMCA on Shelton Springs Road, next to Shelton High School and Oakland Bay Junior High. To inquire about the school-based clinic, speak with a counselor at a Shelton School District secondary school.
