The Mason County Transportation Cooperative continues to have a significant bus driver shortage. We understand the hardship this puts on families to provide transportation to and from school when bus routes cannot be filled. We are currently utilizing third-party transportation companies to assist with mandatory transportation requirements for homeless/McKinney-Vento students, and for students who need special transportation.
The District continues to try different types of recruitment attempts to hire more bus drivers with limited success due to ongoing turnover. The shortage of bus drivers is not only affecting the Shelton School District, but every school district across Washington state, and even nationwide.
If you have ever thought about becoming a bus driver, we encourage you to apply! There are a lot of great perks that come with becoming a bus driver:
- No prior experience is needed - we will train you!
- Training is paid!
- Earn competitive wages and benefits
- Flexible schedule
- Make a difference in the lives of students
If you have questions or would like more information about becoming a bus driver, please send an email to [email protected] or give us a call at (360) 426-3182.
We thank you for your patience as we do our best to try and provide transportation for all students.
