Shelton's Shelton Success

Shelton Success

Shelton Success

The Shelton School District is a public school district made up of an increasingly diverse student body. Shelton is creating opportunities for young people to discover, research, and launch their own best futures by inspiring, challenging, and empowering all students. As we look toward the future of our schools, expectations are being raised and we are excited to increase access and opportunities for students. To meet this objective, we have developed a focused plan to guide our work. Shelton Success has four priority areas, each with two initiatives.

A note about the priorities: while the priorities are numbered, it does not indicate a hierarchy of importance, instead, all priority areas will be worked on throughout the year.

A note about standardized tests: the Smarter Balanced Assessment is one way to understand student academic progress. While this test is not perfect, it is a common data point that is collected statewide and gives educators information to help students succeed. This test score is just one data point measured during a student’s school career and is not an indicator of a student’s success.

The Shelton School District strives to create a healthy learning environment for all and to create opportunities for young people to discover, research, and launch their own best futures. Our goal is to inspire all students to love books and grow a passion for reading. Our district’s reading libraries are crafted by educators based on state learning standards and are not intended to promote a specific political agenda.
