The annual Back to School Festival will be held at Olympic Middle School on August 26, 2023, from 10am-1pm. At the festival, families will have the opportunity to receive free backpacks, school supplies, a meal, community resources, free haircuts by Cali Cutz, and more. Our goal is to have all of our students and families feel that they have access to the resources they need in order to successfully start out their school year.

The Mason County Transportation Cooperative continues to have a significant bus driver shortage. We understand the hardship this puts on families to provide transportation to and from school when bus routes cannot be filled. We are currently utilizing third-party transportation companies to assist with mandatory transportation requirements for homeless/McKinney-Vento students, and for students who need special education services.

Please join us for the Native Education Parent Advisory Committee Meeting and Public Hearing of the 2023-24 Grant.

Congratulations to one of our Native Education para educators, Shawnell McFarlane! Shawnell wrote and illustrated a children's book on climate change that is being published titled Indigenous Connections. The story follows a young girl living in Alaska who is experiencing the effects of global warming. The girl meets a NASA scientist and the two learn and share about each other’s cultures and western and indigenous sciences.

Richard Beckman, one of our three student board representatives, was spotlighted in Washington State School Directors' Association's (WSSDA) newsletter this month! Richard is a student at Shelton High School and has served as a student rep since he was a sophomore.

Shelton School District is calling all parents/caregivers of birth to 5-year-old children to attend a free parent workshop,​Ready!​for​Kindergarten. This workshop will help you, as a parent, prepare your child​for​school success when they enter​kindergarten.

The Shelton School District is excited to officially launch a new logo and tagline for the district. The old logo, an abstract human book figure, has served our district well for many years but no longer represents SSD’s current reality or vision for the future.

The Washington State Board of Education recently visited Shelton High School to discuss its success with the Academies. They were very impressed with our staff and students and provided quality conversation about the future of education.

The Shelton School District Student & Family Resource Center is hosting a Snack Drive to be able to support and feed any student who just needs an extra something to get through their day.

Unvaccinated individuals are eligible to apply for jobs in the Shelton School District and also volunteer.

The COVID testing site at ASB300 has moved to Shelton High School (3737 N Shelton Springs Road).

The Shelton School District is beginning the annual process of nominating/referring students for Highly Capable Program services.

The Shelton School District is commencing a Gender Equity Task Force. The application will close on 9/10/2022 for interested administrators, teachers, and paraeducators.

An opportunity to apply for DDA eligibility and possibly get an answer that night! It is also a chance to ask questions and learn more about DDA services.

The SHS Pool repair work is under way. The Contractor is beginning removal of the affected areas and will transition to clean up and prep for tile work to begin.

In partnership with the Shelton School District, Mason Health will open a new School Based Clinic at the Shelton Family YMCA in August.

This summer we will be reviewing all of the routes within the districts serviced by the Mason County Transportation Cooperative. We will be looking at what routes can be streamlined and/or need to be adjusted.

Ready! For Kindergarten winter AND spring parent classes are now available to Shelton School district families online until June 6th! Sign up for one or both seasons, they are completely different information and you will receive a tool kit for each session you complete. Sessions are available for families with a birth - age 1, age 1-2, age 2-3, age 3-4 or age 4-5 child.

Shelton School District is pleased to welcome Don Hall as the new Director of Transportation.

Starting March 21st, we will be offering free COVID test kits for students to take home at our ASB 300 site located at 550 E K Street, Shelton, from 6:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

As a reminder, students and staff will have the option to attend school with or without wearing a mask beginning March 12th. Additionally, masks will no longer be required on school buses.

Shelton School District’s enrollment window is now open! The open enrollment window will run March 1st through April 22nd, 2022, at 5:00 p.m.
